For me, the off-season (October-February) is a time to catch up on that pile of books that is sitting next to my chair. If you farm, you know there is barely time to take in oxygen and sustenance during the busy season, so reading in completely out of the question.
Right now, I'm reading A Country Year - Living the Questions by Sue Hubbell. She is a commercial beekeeper in the Ozarks. It's pretty good, reminding us to take the time to stop and appreciate what we are doing instead of living in overdrive.
We started a beehive this year, so I am also reading Natural Beekeeping, but most of it is over my head b/c I have no idea what the hell I'm doing!
What are you reading or trying to learn during your winter break?
